ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's volleyball coaching staff led by head coach Dan Friend has announced their 2024-25 recruiting class. In total, nine new faces will take the floor this season for the Flyers. The class is made up of a mix of local, national and international talent.
The Flyers ended last season with a 15-15 record overall while going 8-8 in conference play and being ranked 17th in the nation at the end of the season.
Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and earned First Team All-MIVA last season along with teammate
Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School). The Flyers saw 21 athletes earn Academic All-MIVA Awards, tying the MIVA Record.
Tyler Morgan (Dike, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford) was named to Team USA Volleyball 2024 National Collegiate Men's Team and Friend was named as Head Coach for USA Volleyball 2024 Beach Collegiate National Team.
"We are extremely excited about this year's incoming recruiting class overall," Friend said. "They bring a wide range of talent, athleticism, skill, and experience. This group is also from a variety of backgrounds which continues to add to our inclusive culture that we continue to foster. These young men will make a lasting impact both on the court and off the court for the Lewis men's volleyball program."
Ezra Boecking, 6'7", OPP, Round Rock, Texas

Intended Major: Economics
Three-time Texas State Champion in Boys' Volleyball. As a sophomore, he was named offensive player of the year and the next two years he was named team MVP. During his senior year he achieved a .400 hitting percentage.
Logan Chen, 6'7", S, Lake Mary, Fla.

Intended Major: Health Science
One of three players in the class named to VolleyballMag Fab 50 list, which honors the top 50 senior-age players in the country. Played in the Florida Semi State Finals during his sophomore year of high school
Gavin Deep, 6'3", OH, Ontario, Canada

Intended Major: Aviation Flight Technology
D-8 Champion in both basketball and volleyball at Provincial Catholic High School his freshman year. Played basketball and volleyball for Team Ontario. D1 Provincial Champion and All Star for basketball. 1x Gold, 2x Silver, 2x Bronze Medal Provincial Volleyball Championship Winner. Beach Silver National Volleyball Championship Winner. Seven Gold OVA Beach Tournaments and Three Silver OVA Beach Tournaments.
Preston Fixemer, 7'2", MB, Omaha, Neb.
Previous School: Millard South High School
Club Team: High Flyers VC
Intended Major: Secondary Education
The Omaha, Nebraska native is the second Flyer recruit named to VolleyballMag Fab 50 list. Played for High Flyers Volleyball Club for five years and Iowa High Performance for one year.
Lorenzo Rivera George, 6'5", OH, Naranjito, Puerto Rico
Previous School: Bayamon Military Academy
Club Team: Legends VC
Intended Major: Aviation Flight Technology
Currently playing with the Puerto Rican National Team, he played with Legends Volleyball Club in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. A club with the support of family focuses on Discipline and respect. His father, Victor Rivera, played volleyball at Lewis from 1996-1999, and is featured in The Flyer Hall of Fame.
Austin Miller, 6'5", OH, Murrieta, Calif.

Intended Major: Economics
The 2022 High School Southwestern League MVP joins the flyers after spending 6 years with Forza 1 Volleyball Club. 2022 Press Enterprise Inland Empire Varsity First Team. A Unified Sports Contributor who recently completed a mission trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Oguzhan Oguz, 6'8", OPP, Bursa, Turkey
Previous School: University of Hawaii at Manoa
Club Team: Ziraat Bank Team
Intended Major: Psychology
Joins the Flyers after one season with The University of Jamestown and one season with The University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 2023 he was named a NAIA All American Honorable Mention, GPAC First Team, GPAC Freshman of the Year, and GPAC Player of the Year with 340 kills and 395 total points. Oguz helped Jamestown win the 2023 GPAC Championship and led the team to the NAIA Tournament Quarterfinals. As a club player, he won four Bursa Championships with Tofas Sports Club and was a two-time Turkish Super League Champion in 2021 and 2022.
Jacob Shroder, 6'2", L, Fort Worth, Texas.

Club Team: Arizona Fear VC
Intended Major: Exercise Science
Third player in the class to be named to the Fab 50 list. The 5A State Champion, Four time 5A Southern Region Champion, and Arizona Region Champion joins the flyers after having 505 digs. Finished 21
st in the nation in digs and ended his high school career with 1501 digs.
Joshua Weyerhaeuser, 6'7", MB, Gurnee, Ill.
Previous School: Long Beach State
Club Team: Adversity VBC
Intended Major: Business Finance
The Gurnee, Illinois native joins the Flyers after playing for Long Beach State. Was named to the all-conference team in high school. In club play, he earned a first place finish in the 18 Open at St. Louis Gateway Festival.
