ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 12 Lewis University men's volleyball team lost to McKendree 3-1 in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match Saturday (Feb. 8).

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: McKendree 25, Lewis 18
The Bearcats jumped ahead in the first set of the match up ahead 7-3 after multiple kills by Xydakis.
Later in the set, the Flyers decreased the deficit to just 3 after back-to-back kills by Haber and Krueger-Beer to push the score to 16-13.
The Bearcats continued their aggression for the remainder of set 1 as a Lewis serving error was the final point of the set with McKendree winning 25-18.
SET 2: McKendree 26, Lewis 24
McKendree started set two the same way they began the first with a kill by Hoskin to open the scoring 1-0.
Midway through the set, the Flyers came back to tie the score up at 11-11 a piece for the Flyers with a kill from Oguz. Soon after the Bearcats answered with a 3-point unanswered run started with a kill by McCraney and two Lewis attacking errors.
The score went back and forth all set long with it coming down to the wire at 24-24. McKendree used a Lewis serving error followed by a kill by Schuele to win the set 26-24 to put them up 2-0 overall.
SET 3: Lewis 25, McKendree 23
Both teams traded kills to open the scoring for set 3 but the Bearcats pulled ahead 12-7 on a 4-1 run started from a kill by Flayter.
Lewis flipped the deficit on its head after a 5 point unanswered run capped off with an ace by Haber and McKendree error putting the Flyers back up on top late 19-18.
A service error gave the Flyers possession for match point and a kill by Roquet ended the set at 25-23 in favor of Lewis.
SET 4: McKendree 30, Lewis 28
An early 3 point run by McKendree put the Bearcats ahead 5-3 but it was quickly responded with another 3-point run by Lewis to retake the lead 6-5.
A twelve point back and forth swing between the teams finally ended with a Bearcats kill by Hoskin which put McKendree up 17-16.
The teams battled back and forth with one another until the very end of the set where an ace by McCraney concluded the match with McKendree winning 30-28.

Lewis will be back in action Thursday, February 13 as the Flyers travel for a MIVA contest against Ball State starting at 6 p.m. CT.
