KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Lewis University softball team returned today (March 17) to sweep Truman State in conference play after being postponed yesterday (March 16) due to weather.
GAME 1: Lewis 9, Truman State 1

SUMMARY
The Flyers were unable to score any runs in the first three innings of play, but thanks the effort from Garden in the circle, neither could Truman State. Garden notched seven strikeouts in the first three innings to keep the game tied at zero.
The fourth inning finally saw some scoring by both squads, with Graham leading off the fourth with a home run for the Flyers. Poortenga reached base with a walk and later scored with a Kmak single. Up 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Bulldogs would cut the lead in half on a sacrifice fly.
Lewis had a big fifth inning offensively, beginning with a Graham bunt to drive in Magdziasz. Graham herself would score on a ball put in play by Poortenga, who reached on an error.
After moving around the base path, she scored on a passed ball. Sheehan doubled with two outs to bring home Jensen and Hoffman and she also scored on a passed ball plays later.
The Flyers added one more run in the sixth inning with a solo home run off the bat of Frafjord and finished the contest with a score of 9-1.
GAME 2: Lewis 4, Truman State 3

SUMMARY
With a Garden single to left and a Magdziasz single to left-center, a base-running play that saw a double steal and an error on Truman State that allowed Garden to score. The Flyers were up early in the second game.
Magdziasz scored on a Frafjord ground out, extending Lewis' lead to 2-0 in the first.
Graham was the first base runner of the third after being hit by a pitch followed up by a Frafjord single. Jensen drove home Graham on a single that moved Frafjord to third, she stole home on the next play to make it a 4-0 game.
Two home runs in the sixth inning brought the Bulldogs three runs, making it a one-run game heading into the seventh. The Flyers did not score any more runs, but neither did Truman, as Wondrasek closed out the game.
UP NEXT
Lewis heads to Fayette to take on Upper Iowa Tuesday (March 18) in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
