FAYETTE, Iowa -- The Lewis University softball team split with Upper Iowa Tuesday. The Peacocks won the first game 3-2 then the Flyers took the second 6-2.
GAME 1: Upper Iowa 3, Lewis 2

SUMMARY
Upper Iowa jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after a two-run double.
The Peacocks added one more run in the bottom of the fourth which turned out to be the difference of the game.
Lewis looked to rally in the sixth inning after
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) hit a two-run single to center, scoring
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) and
Grace Kmak (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central High School), making it 3-2 Upper Iowa.
That score held until the end of the game with Upper Iowa winning 3-2.
Garden (9-5) took the loss in the circle after pitching a complete game. The senior pitched all six innings, giving up nine hits, allowing three runs and striking out seven.
GAME 2: Lewis 6, Upper Iowa 2

SUMMARY
Both teams failed to score through the contest's first three frames.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) started the scoring with a bases-loaded walk, bringing
Isabelle Poortenga (Dyer,IN/Lake Central High School) home from third, making it 1-0.
Sofia Dziuba (Minooka, IL/Minooka Community High School) made it 2-0 the hard way after getting hit by a pitch, scoring
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School).
Garden recorded the biggest hit of the contest after ripping a bases-clearing double to left, scoring Dziuba, Wondrasek and
Katie Jensen (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South), making it 5-0.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) extended the Lewis lead out to 6-0 after reaching on a fielder's choice, scoring Garden.
Lewis looked to add more runs in the sixth inning after loading the bases but the Flyers failed to score.
Upper Iowa looked to rally in the sixth inning after scoring a pair of runs, making it 6-2 in favor of the Flyers. Lewis escaped further damage by getting the third out.
Lewis secured the win after pitching a 1-2-3 seventh inning and won the contest 6-2.
Wondrasek (9-3) recorded the win on the mound after her complete game performance. The junior pitched all seven innings, giving up six hits, allowing two runs, walking one and striking out 11.

Lewis will be back in action for their home opener at Lewis Softball Field Saturday, March 22 as the Flyers host Southwest Baptist for a doubleheader starting at noon CT.
