ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 15 Lewis University men's volleyball team swept Queens in straight sets Thursday (March 27) and defeated the Royals 3-0.

SET BREAKDOWN
SET 1: Lewis 25, Queens 13
Lewis scored the first three points of the contest. Moments later, the Flyers jumped out to a 10-2 lead after three straight service aces by Haber.
The Flyers extended their lead out to 15-4 after kills from Roquet, Haber and Oguz followed by an ace from Morgan. Queens scored three consecutive points to cut it down to 16-8 in favor of Lewis.
Both teams each scored a point making it 17-9 which was the closest it got. Lewis closed out the next on a 8-4 run to win it 25-13.
SET 2: Lewis 25, Queens 23
Both teams scored four points each to begin the second set before Lewis rallied for three straight after kills from Krueger-Beer and Haber followed by an ace from Haber, making it 7-4. Queens got back in the set after back-to-back points, making it 7-6 Lewis.
Shawn Baggs Jr. (Gilbert, Ariz./Casteel HS) extended the Flyers lead in the set out to 18-14 after recording a kill. Queens responded with five unanswered points, giving them a 19-18 advantage.
Lewis got back on track after scoring four straight of their own including back-to-back kills from Roquet and Diego Estrada (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Adianez) for a 22-19 lead. The Royals fought back and made it a one-point set at 24-23 in favor of Lewis.
The Flyers won the set after Haber recorded the kill and giving Lewis a 2-0 lead.
SET 3: Lewis 25, Queens 20
Lewis and Queens both scored three points to begin the third set. Lewis rallied for three straight with three consecutive kills from Oguz and a pair from Roquet, giving the Flyers a 6-3 lead.
The Royals fought back and grabbed a 13-11 lead. Lewis bounced back with five consecutive points including four kills capped off by one by Cameron Hoying (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales), making it 16-13 in favor of the Flyers.
Queens made it as close as 20-18 but that was the closest it got. Lewis scored four consecutive points, capped off by a kill from Estrada to force match point.
The Royals scored back-to-back points, making it 24-20. Lewis got the next point and won the match after a Queens miscue gave the Flyers a 25-20 set victory.
