ROLLA, Mo. -- The Lewis University softball team took home the doubleheader victory Saturday, March 29 against Missouri S&T. The Flyers won both games with the first having a score of 11-1 and won the second 6-1.

SUMMARY
The Flyers attacked the pitching early in the top of the first inning with a leadoff triple by
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School) to right center and soon came around to score on a sacrifice bunt from
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) to put Lewis up 1-0.
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) brought in another run in the top of the first to put the Flyers up 2-0 with a sacrifice fly. The Miners put up one in the score column to bring the Flyer lead to one with an RBI double from Anderson.
Lewis added three runs to their lead in the top of the fifth with two coming off a double from Garden, pushing the score to 5-1.
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) sparked the sixth inning for Lewis with a leadoff single down the left field line and scored the Flyers sixth run of the game when
Katie Jensen (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) followed her with an RBI triple.
Jensen advanced and scored off an RBI single by
Kadence Baccam (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) to make it 7-1 and Garden picked up her third RBI of the game off a single bringing in Baccam to make it 8-1.
Mackenzie Sheehan (Kansasville, Wis./Union Grove) cleared the bases in the top of the seventh with a three RBI double to left center which capped off the Flyers offense at an 11-1 score.
Garden also on the bump captured her 14th win going all seven innings allowing just one earned run on five hits and collecting seven strikeouts.
GAME 2: Lewis 6, Missouri S&T 1

SUMMARY
Lewis opened the scoring again to start the second game of the day with Frafjord bringing in Garden on an RBI double to right in the top of the first inning making it a 1-0 game. Missouri S&T quickly responded in the bottom half of the first using a sacrifice fly from Nelson to tie the game at 1-1.
A Missouri S&T fielding error in the top of the third allowed
Grace Kmak (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central High School) to reach first safely and later scored from third on another error by the pitcher. Graham put another run across for Lewis on a sacrifice fly while Jensen pushed across two more on a double down the left field line to make the score 5-1.
Allie Wondrasek (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West High School) escaped a jam in the bottom of the third stranding three Miners on base to preserve the Lewis lead. The Flyers added one more run off a sacrifice fly from Hoffman increasing the deficit to five runs at a 6-1 score.
Wondrasek stranded three more runners on base in her final frame of work in the bottom of the seventh to end her day with seven innings pitched with only one earned run on six hits and two strikeouts notching her 12th win on the year.

Lewis will be back in action Wednesday, April 2 for a doubleheader against University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. The first game will start at 1 p.m. CT.
