SUMMARY
Dylan Wolff (Joliet, Ill.) started the game on the mound for the Flyers with a quick first inning before turning it over to the Lewis offense. Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) led of with a double to center field and was immediately sent home by a Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke) single to make it an early 1-0 ball game. George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) with back to back singles sent Kocen home soon after and Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) single would score Bilecki for a 3-0 start to the game.

The Bearcats hit a baseball over the right field fence in the top of the third for a two-run home run to make it a 3-2 game. Southwest Baptist would add two more runs in the following inning to take the 4-3 lead.

After five scoreless innings, the Flyers were able to revive the offense with a Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) single to center scoring both Headrick and Krol to make it a 5-4 game in the bottom of the seventh.

Another two-run home run by the Bearcats in the top of the eighth put the Flyers behind once again, 6-5. The Flyers responded in the bottom of the eighth by sending Kocen home on a Headrick single to left.

With the game tied at six, Carter Endisch (Pewaukee, Wis.) and the Flyers held their ground and allowing no runs in the top of the ninth. Next, Nelson hit a lead off single, advanced to third on a error by the Bearcats' center fielder. Only a few short moments later, Phommachanom sent a ground ball through the infield to bring Nelson home, taking the first game of a four game series.
