Baseball Stymied by Wayne State

Box Score Millington, Tenn. -  The Lewis University Baseball team fell 10-5 against Wayne State University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wayne State opened the score at the bottom of the first inning after Caleb Sanders, who had advanced to third base, scored the run off a sacrfice from Owen Tuccinardi.

Lewis had a quiet second, third and fourth inning, failing to record any hits or runs.  WSU scored the rest of their runs by getting two runs in the third inning and seven runs in the fourth, bringing the score to 10-0.

The Flyers started to get more active the following inning as Cole Clemens (Marco Island, Flo.) scored off a Kyle Peterson (Orland Park, Ill/Carl Sandburg) triple to left field. The Flyers held WSU scoreless at the bottom of the fifth.

Lewis continued their scoring into the following inning, as at the top of the sixth, Jimmy Spellman (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College of Prep) and Alex Chaltin (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) scored the Flyers' next two runs in back-to-back fashion after advancing to third and second base respectively.

Despite some late run support, the Flyers' efforts fell short, as they ended up losing to a final score of 10-5.
