Women's Lacrosse Gets Back in the Win Column with Victory Over Lee

Cleveland, Tenn. - The Lewis Women's Lacrosse team beat Lee University 14-6 at Ray Conn Sports Complex behind five goals from Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox)

Lewis moved to 4-3 and Lee  dropped to 4-7 

IMPACT PLAYERS 
Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox) had a game leading five goals and three assists while Devyn Hartley (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) had four groundballs. In goal, Sophia Fountain (Berkeley, Ill./Montini Catholic High School) had 10 saves and secured the win. 

Lee's offense was led by Kamille Kremkau's two goals and Savannah Weisman's 10 groundballs. Savannah Weisman had 18 saves on 32 shots on goal throughout the game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Lewis came out first with Winterlik scoring her first of five to make it 1-0. Walsh then came back with one of their own to even the game 1-1. Both teams then went on to trade goals making it 2-2. Lewis then scored back to back goals making it 4-2. The first quarter ended with Walsh scoring a goal making it 4-3. 

The second quarter was all Lewis. Georgia Kodytek (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake South) scored the first goal of the quarter making it 5-3. Three more goals followed with two of them being from Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox) making the score going into the half 8-3. 

Lee would come out of halftime striking first making the score 8-4. Lewis would follow that up with a goal of their own making it 9-4. Lee would score a goal right before the end of the third quarter making it 9-5 after three quarters of play.  

The fourth quarter saw Lee score first making it 9-6. Lewis would then go on to score 5 unanswered goals to finish the game with a final score of 14-6.  

GAME NOTES 

  • Lewis had 32 shots on goal, a new season-high 
  • Winterlik's five goals are a season-high 
  • The red and whites 4-3 start is the best since the 2024 campaign
