Women's Lacrosse Stymied by Quincy

Quincy, Ill. – The Lewis University women's lacrosse team fell ton the road 10-17 against Quincy University.

IMPACT PLAYERS
Georgia Kodytek (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake South) and Ryan Paterson (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School) both led the Flyers (7-8, 1-5 GLVC) in goals scored with three each, while Paterson led the team in both total shots and shots on goal, with eight and six respectively. Amelia Procyk (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) tied in Kodytek and Paterson's point total of three with one goal and two assists, she was also the assists leader for the Flyers.

For the Hawks (5-11, 2-4 GLVC), Amelia Ham led in points with eight, which came from five goals and three assists. Her 11 shots were more than anyone in the entire game for either team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers managed to get on the scoreboard first after Kodytek's unassisted shot opened the score at the 12:41 mark of the first quarter. Although Quincy managed to tie things up a little over five minutes after Kodytek's goal, Procyk gave the Flyers the lead with four minutes to go in the first quarter. The Flyers managed to hold the lead but with only 28 seconds left in the first quarter, Quincy's Emily Leal leveled the score ahead of the second stanza.

The first half of the second quarter was all about Quincy' offense, as they scored five additional goals before the Flyers could respond, with goals from Hannah Maxwell (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community High School) and Kodytek coming with just five minutes to go before halftime. Quincy added two more scores before halftime to enter the locker room with a 9-4 edge.

Coming back from halftime, the Flyers scored two more goals in the third quarter, both from Paterson, while Quincy scored three more goals, making the score 12-6 in favor of the hosts. Lewis saw their highest scoring quarter in the final quarter of the game, scoring four goals that came from Eliana Cappellini (Burnaby, BC, Canada/Burnaby North Secondary School) and Kodytek, both unassisted, while Sam Sandefur (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper High School)'s goal was assisted by Procyk and Paterson's goal was assisted by Cappellini. Quincy scored five goals, making the final score 17-10, handing the Flyers the loss.
