Greenwood, Ind. - After a standout junior season,
Abraham Christian (Huntley, Ill./Huntley HS) was named a College Sports Communicators Third Team Academic All-American, the organization announced today (July 14).
Christian is one of eight Great Lakes Valley Conference student-athletes to earn the award this year. Within the men's track & field program at Lewis, the junior is the first Flyer to take home the honor since
Scott Tanis (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) did so at the end of the 2011-12 season.
"Abraham had an incredible season, which was a culmination of the work he did the last two years," Lewis University men's track & field head coach
Dana Schwarting said. "It's amazing as a coach to watch someone's hard work pay off. He is an amazing athlete but more importantly, an amazing person who works hard in the classroom as well as on the track."
An USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-Region honoree, Christian won the high jump title at both the GLVC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships and earned Second Team All-America honors during the indoor season. At the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Christian claimed the title with a clearance of 2.14 meters, setting a new conference record in the process. The Huntley, Illinois, native ended his 2025-26 campaign on a high note as he picked-up NCAA Outdoor All-American status for the first time in his career, placing eighth in the high jump with a final height of 2.10 meters.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be at least a sophomore, been named a CSC Academic All-District honoree and have a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Christian joins
Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) (men's volleyball),
Tyler Davis (Edina, Minnesota/Edina HS) (men's lacrosse) and
Amelia Marsicek (Centennial. Col./Regis Jesuit) (women's swimming) as the four Lewis student-athletes to earn the award this year.
