Paula and Davis Earn CSC Academic All-America At-Large Honors

Greenwood, Ind. – Lewis student-athletes Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) (men's volleyball) and Tyler Davis (Edina, Minnesota/Edina HS) (men's lacrosse) were recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® honorees as part of the At-Large Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Paula was tabbed to the first team after an impressive 2026 campaign, while Davis was named to the third team after helping the Flyers capture their second Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship. Davis was one of five GLVC men's lacrosse players to earn the distinction, while Paula was the only player from the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) to be selected. It is the first time either student-athlete earned the honor.

Davis ended the 2026 year as the Flyers leader in caused turnovers (34) and led all defenders in ground balls with 50. A 2026 USILA All-American, Davis concluded the regular season ranked top-five in the GLVC for caused turnovers and caused at least one turnover in every contest he appeared in except one. The junior defender collected a career-high eight ground balls against Rollins. In the GLVC Championship against Maryville (April 26), Davis caused a season-high five turnovers en route to the Flyers 16-10 triumph to clinch the title. It marks the second consecutive year that the Flyers had a CSC Academic All-American as Domenic Tarello (Libertyville, Illinois/Libertyville HS) and Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) were named to the CSC At-Large Academic All-America Teams in 2025.

As for Paula, he finished the 2026 campaign with 264 digs and an average of 2.44 digs per set, both of which led the MIVA and ranked within the top-10 nationally at the end of the 2026 season. An AVCA All-American, Paula notched 11 matches where he had 10-or-more digs, highlighted by a 22-dig performance against McKendree that tied his own program record for total digs in a match. Paula concluded his collegiate career ranked in the top 10 for both career digs and digs per set at Lewis. Paula earned Academic All-MIVA distinction as well this year, one of 16 Flyers to do so. Paula is the first men's volleyball player for the Flyers to collect the accolade since Ryan Coenen (Franklin, WI/Franklin) was tabbed a CSC At-Large Academic All-America Second Team selection in 2021.

The CSC Academic All-District® At-Large Team is comprised of athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, water polo, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, wrestling, women's bowling, women's rowing and women's field hockey. To be eligible for the award, athletes must be at least a sophomore and have a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Paula and Davis join Amelia Marsicek (Centennial. Col./Regis Jesuit) of the women's swimming program as the three Lewis student-athletes to earn the award this year.
