Sac Relays (Apr. 19)...his time of 3:48.76 at the Beach Invitational was a personal-best...named to All-GLVC Indoor Track and Field First Team following his win in the 1-mile run (4:16.7) at the GLVC Indoor Championships (Feb. 25)...earned USTFCCCA Indoor Track and Field All-Region distinction following his NCAA Provisional time in the 1-mile run (4:10.62) set at the GVSU Big Meet (Feb. 10)...finished second in the 1-mile run with a NCAA Provisional time of 4:31.51 at the Cardinal Classic (Feb. 17)...set a personal and team-season best 1-mile run (4:09.42) at the GVSU Big Meet (Feb. 11)...was victorious in the 1-mile run (4:24.17) at the Dick Pond Invitational (Jan. 20)...won the 1-mile run (4:21.25) at the Dick Pond Open (Jan. 13)...earned a NCAA Provisional mark in the 5,000-meter run (14:24.83) at the GVSU Early Bird Invitational (Dec. 2)...recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...selected to Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country / Track and Field Third Team.
2011 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence, and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...named to All-GLVC Outdoor Second Team...captured a NCAA provisional time of 3:51.86 at the Indianapolis Twilight Qualifier (May 15) to net him USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region honors...placed second in the 1,500-meter run (3:56.45) at the GLVC Outdoor Championships (May 8)...won the 1,500-meter run (3:56.84) at the Chicagoland Championships (Apr. 9)...did not compete during indoor season.
2010 Highlights: Selected to the All-GLVC Indoor Second Team after finishing third overall in the 1-mile run (4:22.11) at the GLVC Indoor Championships (Feb. 27)...recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence...ran a leg of the first-place 4x400 relay (3:27.90) and won the 800-meter run (1:57.56) at the Dick Pond Invitational (Jan. 16)...took home the 1,000-meter run (2:34.52) title and ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay (3:30.74) at the Ranger Open (Jan. 22)...redshirted during outdoor campaign.
2009 Highlights: Delahanty Award recipient given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence...claimed the Flyers’ fastest indoor 5,000-meter run (15:54.34) of the season at the GVSU Division II Challenge (Feb. 7)...owns the Flyers’ second-fastest indoor 1-mile run time of 4:24.22 set at the GLVC Championships (Feb. 27)...turned in Lewis’ top outdoor times in the 800-meter run (1:56.36), 1,500-meter run (3:58.97) and 5,000-meter run (16:03.73).
Prep/Personal: Four-year letterwinner in cross country and two-year letterwinner in track and field for Yorkville...also competed in basketball...two-time team cross country MVP...finished 22nd at the cross country state championships as a senior, helping the Foxes to an 8th place finish in the tournament as a team...member of Western Sun All-Conference indoor and outdoor 4x800 relay teams as a senior...ran a leg of the state qualifying 4x800 relay team as a junior...named the team[apos]s middle distance MVP as a junior...was an IHSA All-State Academic Team nominee...Illinois State Scholar...qualified for the High Honor Roll all eight semesters...son of Don and Theresa Tanis...major is sports management.
