Jacob Kerschner is in his fifth season as Assistant Coach for the Flyers.  While on staff, Kerschner has helped lead the team to an overall record of 69-43 as well as a MIVA Championship and NCAA Final Four Appearance in the 2021 season. 

With his role as Recruiting Coordinator, Kerschner has already made an impact on the Flyers by bringing in 19 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 athletes over his four years. The Fab 50 list represents the top 50 high school athletes coming out of the United States each year. Of the 2021 and 2022 recruiting class, Lewis had the most Fab 50 athletes of any DI/DII program.

Prior to coaching, Kerschner was a member of the Flyers from 2015 through 2020.  He played in 48 matches and appeared in 106 sets during his five seasons with the Flyers.  Kerschner recorded six kills in 16 chances for a hitting percentage of .313 in his career.  He added four service aces in each of the 2018 and 2019 seasons.  Kerschner posted 20 digs during his redshirt junior season and recorded a career-high five digs in the five-set win at Cal State Northridge on Jan. 26, 2019.

He is a five-time recipient of the Brother David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and was also a five-time selection to the Academic All-MIVA team.  Kerschner also received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a minor in athletic coaching from Lewis in 2020.

Kerschner has also been involved within the USA Volleyball coaching pipeline with multiple roles as an NTDP coach at both regional and national training series. 

Kerschner, a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was an all-state player at Central Dauphin High School.
