ROMEOVILLE, Ill.
- The No. 17 Lewis women's volleyball team (23-5) heads to the 2011 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament this weekend in Indianapolis as the No. 2 seed. It would be a GLVC record ninth championship for the Lewis program should they come out on top. It would also be their fifth in the past six seasons and second straight conference title.

All matches will be played on the campus of the University of Indianapolis at the Ruth Lilly Center.

The Flyers open play on Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET, playing the winner of No. 10 Drury or No. 7 UW-Parkside. Lewis split the season series with Parkside with a 3-2 loss in Kenosha and a 3-0 win in Romeoville. The Flyers have not played Drury this season.

Should Lewis win on Friday evening, they will play the winner of No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis and No. 3 Missouri S&T in the semifinals on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. The Flyers swept Missouri St. Louis this year and did not play Missouri S&T.

The Flyers, in the middle of a 10-match winning streak, have not lost since Oct. 14. Lewis will rely heavily on middle hitters Danielle Mount and Hannah Koeneman. Koeneman was named this week's Baden/GLVC Player of the Week after recording 25 kills in the wins over Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis last weekend. Mount leads the GLVC and ranks 10th in the nation in blocks at 1.31 per set.

Lewis started the GLVC slate 1-3 before winning their final 14 GLVC matches. The Flyers dropped only six sets over the 14-match GLVC win streak. The Flyers' current .269 hitting percentage is the second best in school history.

Lewis owns the No. 4 spot in the latest Midwest Region rankings. No matter the outcome this weekend at Indianapolis, the Flyers seem to be in a good position to earn their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
