Lewis Men’s Tennis Rolls Past St. Francis (Ill.), 8-1

Lapimaa extends singles winning streak to 17 matches.

– The Lewis University men's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over St. Francis (Ill.) on Tuesday (Apr. 12) afternoon in a non-conference home match at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.

With the win, the Flyers improve to 10-3 while the Fighting Saints fall to 7-11.
“I thought it was a good match for the guys after a tough weekend against Ferris and Southern Indiana,” Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. “It was nice to see us play well in doubles as those matches are always key for us.”

Lewis redshirt juniors Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and Tonis Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia/Rocca Al Mare Kool) defeated Jacob Quigley and Jakub Szymanski, 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Lapimaa earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mark Zubov at No.1 singles for his 17th straight win in singles play. Irdoja won a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Quigley at No. 3 singles.

At No. 2 doubles, Lewis'
Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) and Lorenz Pestinger (Bad Homburg, Germany/Humboldtschule/Missouri Valley) defeated Zubov and Erick Dobrzynski, 8-5. Pestinger earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Dobrzynski at No. 5 singles.

Flyer sophomore
Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and graduate student Jonathan Teune (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South/Taylor University) won an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles over Andres Stecher and Eddie Semik.
Hardacre defeated Stecher, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Teune upended Semik 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

The Flyers return to action on Friday (Apr. 15) as they head to Northern Kentucky for a 2 PM (EST) match.
