Men’s Tennis Wins 6-3 Decision Against Missouri-St. Louis

Flyers win fourth-straight match.

Uno Lapimaa won a pair of matches against UMSL on Saturday.

After a nail-biting win against Indianapolis on Friday, the Lewis University men's tennis team had a little breathing room on Saturday (Apr. 2) as the Flyers claimed the 6-3 victory over visiting Missouri-St. Louis in a non-conference match at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
   With the win, the Flyers improve to 7-2 while the Tritons drop to 4-4.
   “In tough conditions outside and after a long, tough match last night on the road the guys came out and played very solid doubles and that was a great sign that the guys were ready to play today,” head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. “We fought for every point in the singles matches and played extremely smart tennis in the wind.
   “I am proud that we played so well with the quick turnaround from last night and this win is a real confidence booster.”
   Lewis juniors 
Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and Tonis Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia/Rocca Al Mare Kool) defeated Tim Bryant and Alex Cherman, 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Lapimaa won his 13th straight singles match, winning 6-3, 6-2 over Chetan Panditi at No. 1.

Lorenz Pestinger (Bad Homburg, Germany/Humboldtschule/Missouri Valley) and Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) teamed up at No. 2 doubles for the 8-3 win over Panditi and Daniel Anthony.
   Wojnarowski later claimed the 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 victory over Bryant at No. 3 singles while Pestinger defeated Tim Gorter at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
   Lewis graduate student 
Jonathan Teune (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South/Taylor University) earned a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles over Felipe Naranjo.
   The Flyers are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 5), hosting Illinois-Springfield at 1 PM at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
