Cincinnati, Ohio – Lewis University redshirt junior and Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) picked up a pair of wins against No. 35 Rockhurst, but the Hawks prevailed for the 5-2 victory over the Flyers in the opening round of the GLVC Men's Tennis Tournament at the Beechmont Racquet Club on Friday (Apr. 22) afternoon.
With the loss, the Flyers fall to 11-5 while the Hawks improve to 18-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Lapimaa and Tonis Irdoja (Tallinn, Estonia/Rocca Al Mare Kool) defeated Ben and Zach Newell, 8-6. Lapimaa later earned the 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ben Newell at No. 1 singles for his 20th straight win in singles play.
The Flyers host Huntington next Saturday (Apr. 30) for a non-conference home match beginning at 11 AM.
