Lewis Men's Tennis Cruises Past William Jewell, 9-0

Flyers extend winning streak to three and have only lost two matches in last three contests.

The Lewis University men's tennis team extended their winning streak to three matches, as the Flyers cruised to the 9-0 non-conference victory over William Jewell at the NAC Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's, on Saturday (Feb. 25) afternoon.

"I thought the guys came out sharp today and played very well," Lewis head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel said.

With the win, Lewis improves to 3-1 on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 3-2 on the campaign.

Lewis senior Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) earned a pair of victories, as he defeated William Jewell's Shane GIannetti, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.  He also teamed up with freshman Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) for the 8-4 triumph over Giannetti and Bryan Thomas at No. 1 doubles. Aunapuu would also defeat Thomas, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Lewis' Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) claimed the 8-2 win over Bronson Brassel at No. 3 singles. He paired up with senior Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) for the 8-1 win over Brassel and Max Cooper at No. 2 doubles. Wojnarowski upended Cooper, 8-4, at No. 4 singles.

Lewis junior Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) earned the 8-5 win over William Jewell's Eric Dailey at No. 5 singles. Hardacre and freshman Isriz Balase (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg/Harper College) downed Jimmy Hunter and Chris Reimer, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles. Balase added an 8-4 win over Hunter at No. 6 singles.

Lewis returns to action later tonight, as the Flyers take on St. Francis (Ill.) at 9:30 p.m.
