Michigan City, Ind. - The Lewis University men's tennis team was practically perfect at the NAC Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's, as the Flyers won all 27 matches, including a 9-0 showing against Quincy on Sunday (Feb. 26) afternoon.
The win is the Flyers' fifth straight and improves their record to 5-1 on the campaign. Quincy falls to 1-1 on the season.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis senior
Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and freshman
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia / Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) earned the 8-6 win over Ian Hinkamper and Lane Luhring. Lapimaa was also victorious over Hinkamper with an 8-5 win at No. 1 singles, while Aunapuu dropped Martin Salkeld, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.
Lewis' No. 2 tandem of
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia / Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and
Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) claimed the 8-2 win over Quincy's John Moskal and Ethan Arns. Levandi also picked up the 8-4 win over Luhring at No. 3 singles, while Wojnarowski earned the 6-0, 6-2 win over Moskal at No. 4 singles.
At No. 3 doubles, Lewis'
Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and
Isriz Balase (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg/Harper) felled Dan Martin and Greg Kuchta, 8-4. Hardacre also beat Martin, 8-2, at No. 5 singles while Balase defeated Kuchta, 8-2, at No. 6 singles.
Lewis returns to action on March 10th, as they head to Nebraska to square off with Nebraska-Kearney for a 9 a.m. first serve.
