No. 7 Lewis Men's Volleyball Host Loyola on 'White Out' Wednesday

First serve is set for 7 PM.

The Flyers look to sweep the season series against the Ramblers.

Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 7 Lewis University men's volleyball team (14-5, 8-0 MIVA) returns home to Neil Carey Arena on Wednesday (March 13) to host Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rival Loyola (10-8, 3-3 MIVA). First serve on 'White Out' Night is set for 7 PM.

MIVA LEADERS - Redshirt sophomore Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) leads the league with 266 total kills, averaging 3.69 kills per set. Redshirt junior setter BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) is second with 738 total assists to average 10.11 assists-per-set this season.

IN THE NATIONAL RANKS - The Flyers have been in the AVCA National Rankings for 41-straight weeks, when the ninth poll of the 2013 season came out on Monday (March 11).  

ON A ROLL - Lewis' heads into the evening with a nations-best 13-match winning streak, the highest in the Dan Friend era.

LAST TIME WE FACED OFF - Lewis defeated Loyola 3-1 on Feb. 16 in Chicago. Powell paced the Flyers with a .533 hitting clip with 18 kills and digs. 

SERIES RECORDS - The Ramblers hold a 21-15 lead over the Flyers. 

HOME SWEET HOME – Lewis' current 23-match home winning streak began with a five set win over IPFW in the first round of the 2011 MIVA post season tournament.

PERFECT IN MIVA – It is the first time the Flyers have been 8-0 in MIVA play in the Dan Friend era.

SETTIN' STORM - BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) is sitting in 4th with 2,993 total assists in Lewis program history. Current assistant coach and former Lewis setter Mike Iandolo is third with 3,389 total assists (2008-10).

LAST TIME OUT - Powell led the Flyers with 10 kills, four digs and four block assists in a 3-0 victory at Princeton on March 9th in the program's first-ever match up. Freshman Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) led the Flyers with five block assists while Boldog had 27 assists, five kills in six attempts and four block assists.

POWELL EARNS SECOND MIVA WEEKLY HONOR - The outside hitter was recognized for the second time this season as MIVA Offensive Player of the Week on March 4th after he led the squad with 15 kills and a career-high 11 digs in the Flyers three-set victory over the then-ranked No. 7 Ohio State to stay undefeated against MIVA opponents.

TO 1,000 KILLS & BEYOND - Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) captured his 1,000th kill against George Mason on Jan. 26. He heads into Wednesday's match with 1,111 total kills which puts him 8th all-time in the rally scoring era. Jeff Soler (2002-05) is 7th with 1,250 total kills.

UP NEXT AT NEIL CAREY ARENA - The Flyers host St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday (March 16) on Leprechaun Night. First serve is set for 7 PM and be sure to wear your green for some Luck of the Irish.
