Bourbonnais, Ill. – The Lewis University men's swimming team fell to Olivet Nazarene, 170-92, on Saturday (Jan. 18) at the ONU Student Life and Recreation Center.
With the loss the Flyers fall to 7-4 on the year.
"The men were up against a very strong team," Lewis head men's swimming coach
Roger Karns said. "This was great training for the mental part of swimming with the fast swims, close races and plenty of pressure.
"It mirrored the atmosphere we will see at championship meets."
Lewis freshman
Victor Tarin (Godelleta, Valencia, Spain/IES Conselleria) picked up a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.00) and in the 100-yard butterfly (50.50). He collected points for the Flyers with his second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.39).
Freshman
Aidan Brennan (Naples, Fla. /Barron Collier) tallied a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.03) and was just edged in the 100-yard freestyle by eleven-hundredths of a second with a time of 46.68 for second place.
Sophomore
Zach Ballon (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) tallied points for the Flyers with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.94, just seven-hundredths out of first-place. In an even tighter race, Ballon took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.57, only three-hundredths of a second from finishing first.
The Flyers return to Lewis Pool to host the University of Indianapolis on Saturday (Jan. 25) at 1 PM.
