HTML ResultsROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University men's swimming won nine of 11 events, including all five individual freestyle races, to defeat NCAA Division I Valparaiso 139-66 on Friday (Nov. 7) afternoon in a dual meet at the Lewis Pool.

The Flyers were the first team on the board by winning the 200 medley relay. Sophomore
Bryan Wiener (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein), junior
Zach Ballon (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek), junior
Alex Elston (Algonquin, Ill./Algonquin) and junior
Matt Bacinich (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) used a time of 1:36.41 to earn first place.
Junior
Caio Azevedo (Governador Valadares, Brazil/Sommerville) won the 1000 freestyle with ease. His time of 10:04.81 was 39 seconds better than the second place finisher.

Sophomore
Aidan Brennan (Naples, Fla. /Barron Collier) won the 200 freestyle by nearly seven seconds following a 1:43.95 performance. He returned later to take the 100 freestyle title, winning in 47.50. Bacinich won the 50 freestyle (21.55). Lewis took 1-2-3 in the event.
The Flyers won the 100 butterfly with Elston notching a time of 52.70.

Wiener used a time of 48.55 to win the 100 backstroke in a pool record performance. He dominated the field, winning by more than seven seconds.

Sophomore
Victor Tarin (Godelleta, Valencia, Spain/IES Conselleria) helped the Flyers take 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle with a victorious time of 4:43.14.

Tarin came back two events later to swim the first leg of Lewis' 200 freestyle relay. Lewis won the event with a time of 1:27.36. Brennan, Azevedo and Wiener combined with Tarin for the win in the event.

"There were a lot of good swims, especially in slightly off events for some people," Lewis head coach
Roger Karns said. "It gives us a little better look as we head into the second half of the season."
Lewis hosts Truman State and Lake Forest on Saturday (Nov. 8) at 11 a.m. in the Lewis Pool.
