LIBERTY, MO. – The Lewis women's swimming team returned from a break of more than three weeks on Wednesday (Dec. 17) in a dual meet at Great Lakes Valley Conference foe William Jewell. The women fell to the Cardinals 142-79.
William Jewell's pool is a 25-meter pool so the events were in meters as opposed to yards like at the Lewis Pool.
The Flyers opened the meet with a victory in the 800 meter freestyle relay. Freshman
Caitlin Krull (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), sophomore
Courtney Duy (Buckeye, Ariz./Millennium), senior
Katie Hallenbeck (Plano, Ill./Plano) and sophomore
Sarah Cameron (Brownstone, Mich./Carlson) swam a time of 8:57.77.
Cameron returned later to win the 200 meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:45.26. Junior
Montana Clasby (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) swam the 50 meter breaststroke in a time of 35.55 to win the event. Krull had Lewis' best performance in the 800 freestyle, stopping the clock in 9:44.46, good for third place.
Sophomore
Brittany Kamper (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) swam the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:09.10, finishing in second place. Duy finished second in the 100 freestyle with a performance of 1:02.53.
"Brittany had a good meet as did Montana and Caitlin," Lewis head coach
