Lewis Men’s Golf Moves into Eighth After Two Rounds At NCAA Regional

Eureka, Mo. – The Lewis University men's golf team moved up one spot to eighth-place after turning in a team score of 601 (301-300) after the second round on Tuesday (May 6) at the 2014 NCAA Midwest/Central Regional.
 
Malone leads the 20-team field with a score of 590 (291-299), playing the par-72, 7,120-yard course at Fox Run Golf Club. Nebraska-Kearney's Michael Colgate leads the individuals after carding a 140 (71-69).
 
"We played another solid round today," Lewis head men's golf coach Skip Steffey said.  "We kept ourselves in the hunt, only four shots out of the last spot to head to the NCAA Championship Finals."
 
Lewis sophomore Robert Dofflemyer III (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) leads the Flyers and is tied for 12th with a two-round total of 147 (75-72).  Junior Ryan Frederick (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) finished with a 150 (77-72) while sophomore Alex Thode (Washington, Iowa/Washington) finished second day play with a 153 (76-77).
 
"Robert and Ryan had really good rounds," Steffey said. "It will take four real good rounds by our team tomorrow to pass all four teams in front of us."
 
Junior Jeremy Fraser (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) turned in a 155 (73-82) while classmate Anthony Lodovico (Homer Glen, Ill. /Lockport Township) rounded out the Flyers with a 158 (80-78).
 
The Flyers return to the course at Fox Run for the third round with tee times starting at 12:50 PM on Wednesday (May 7).  The top four teams and two individuals will advance to the NCAA Championship Finals, held on May 19-23 at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.
