HTML ResultsROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis women's swim team notched nine wins in a non-conference dual meet with Olivet Nazarene on Saturday (Jan. 10) afternoon at the Lewis Pool. The Flyers topped the Tigers 157.5 to 102.5.
Lewis got the meet started with a 4:04.66 victory in the 400 medley relay. Sophomore
Courtney Duy (Buckeye, Ariz./Millennium), junior
Montana Clasby (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), junior
Shelby Leonard (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) and senior
Cindy Jezuit (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) combined for the win.
Duy returned six events later to win the 100 backstroke (1:01.25). Clasby was next up to earn a win, touching the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.50). Leonard earned a victory in the 100 fly (59.78).
Senior
Katie Hallenbeck (Plano, Ill./Plano) led the way with a win for the Flyers in the 200 fly (2:16.75). Sophomore
Brittany Kamper (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) won the 200 backstroke (2:15.29). Sophomore
Sarah Cameron (Brownstone, Mich./Carlson) picked up a victory for the Flyers with a time of 2:28.56 in the 200 breaststroke. Cameron also won the 200 IM (2:14.91). Freshman
Caitlin Krull (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) had a 5:23.47 performance in the 500 freestyle for a Lewis victory.
"ONU is a good team and there were some great races," Lewis head coach
Roger Karns said. "We are still very fatigued from training but we raced well. I am pleased with the effort even if it didn't always show up in great times."
Lewis returns to the pool on Jan. 23 in a home meet with the University of Chicago. The first event is set for 6 p.m. in the Friday non-conference evening meet.
