Naperville, Ill. - The No. 10 Lewis University men's track and field team used four first-place finishes and four NCAA Provisional marks to earn a second-place finish at the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by North Central College, on Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon.
North Central won the 20-team event with 188.5 points, followed by Lewis (83).
"We looked really good today," Lewis head men's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "We had a ton of PR's and some good national marks.
"North Central's depth was too much for our front runners to handle today."
Winning their events and setting NCAA Provisional marks were seniors
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka),
Andrew McLain (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and juniors
Adam Barr (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) and
Isaac Jean-Paul (Gurnee, Ill./Warren).
Dorenkamper notched a career-best and NCAA Provisional first place time of 8.15 in the 60-meter hurdles, while McLain won the 3,000-meter run with a NCAA Provisional showing of 8:21.02.
Barr registered a first-place and NCAA Provisional toss of 18.44m (60'6") in the weight throw, while Jean-Paul captured the high jump title with a NCAA Provisional mark of 7.02m (23' 1/2"). Jean-Paul added a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.02m (23' 1/2").

Andre Barnes (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) finished second in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.45.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Feb. 20), as they return to North Central to participate in the Cardinal Classic. Action is set to begin at 4:30 PM.
