Naperville, Ill. - Lewis University junior
Andre Barnes (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect) won both the 200-meter dash (22.16) and 400-meter dash (48.80) to help the No. 15 men's track and field team to a second place finish at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by North Central College, on Friday (Feb. 20) evening.
North Central won the overall title with 219.5 points, followed by Lewis (159 points).
"We had some really good NCAA Provisional marks in a number of events tonight and a lot of season's best marks all around," Lewis head men's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "We are ready for the GLVC Championships."
Flyer freshman
Mervyn John (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) was second in the 200-meter dash (23.10). John also won the triple jump with a mark of 14.03m (46' 1/2"), followed by junior
Kyle Rohde (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East). Rohde finished second with a jump of 13.80m (45'3 1/2").
Lewis senior
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) won the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA Provisional time of 8.17.
Flyer junior
Isaac Jean-Paul (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) won the 60-meter dash with a career-best time of 7.01 and added a second-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 6.73m (22'1").
Senior
Adam Barr (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) won the shot put with a toss of 15.65m (51'4 1/4") and finished second in the weight throw with a heave of 15.10m (49'6 1/2").
Sophomores
Shawn Milhauser (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) and
Asher Scott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) went 1-2 in the 1-mile run. Milhauser crossed the finish line first in 4:14.45, followed by Scott's mark of 4:17.44.
Freshman
Andrew Timmons (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) was second in the 5,000-meter run (15:32.44).
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 28), as the Flyers head to Indianapolis to participate in the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships. Action is set to begin at 9 AM ET.
