Indianapolis, Ind. - After day one of the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, the No. 17 Lewis University men's track and field team finds itself in first place at the University of Indianapolis' Athletics and Recreation Center on Saturday (Feb. 28) evening.
Lewis has 49 points, while its nearest competitor, Indianapolis is in second with 40 points.
Lewis finished 1-2 in the long jump, as junior
Isaac Jean-Paul (Gurnee, Ill./Warren) won the event with a NCAA Provisional mark and personal-best jump of 7.10m (23'3 1/2"). Junior
Kyle Rohde (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) was second in the event with a personal-best leap of 6.72m (22' 3/4").
Jean-Paul also advanced out of the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.06. Joining Jean-Paul in the 60-meter finals is freshman
Devin Ingram (Minooka, Ill./Minooka). Ingram clocked a 7.13 to advance.
Lewis junior
Adam Barr (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) finished second in the weight throw with a NCAA Provisional heave of 19.87m (65'2 1/4"), while senior
Andrew McLain (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) picked up a runner-up showing and NCAA Provisional time of 14:38.10 in the 5,000-meter run.

Asher Scott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider),
Shawn Milhauser (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) and freshmen Brock Robertson and Deivi Tahiraj placed second with a time of 10:27.67
After the opening day of action, freshman
Bryce Holesinger (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) is second in the heptathlon with 2,526 points. He won the long jump with a jump of 6.47m (21'2 3/4") and was second in the 60-meter dash (7.42).
The Flyers had two runners advance out of the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries. Senior
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) clocked in with a NCAA Provisional mark of 8.20, while freshman
Mervyn John (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) checked in at 8.57. Lewis had two move on in the 400-meter dash as well. Freshman
Chris Wilson (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) crossed the finish line in 50.18, followed by a time of 50.44 from junior
Andre Barnes (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect). Barnes also advanced to the 200-meter finals with a preliminary time of 22.89.

Dana Schwarting said. "We did what we had to do and we qualified most of our people to the finals.Â
"The long jump competitions were huge tonight, and the 5K and DMR relay really got the team excited"
Second day action is slated to begin at 9 AM ET on Sunday (March 1).
