TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sophomore Amanda Farrough (South Bend, Ind./Clay) won the 5K for Lewis women's track and field at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays on Friday (March 20).

Farrough ran a time of 16:27.01. Her mark was easily an NCAA provisional mark and missed a school record by just two seconds. She dominated the Division I field, with second place Andrea Ostenso of Northwestern finishing eight seconds behind Farrough.

"Amanda just ran an amazing 5,000 meters," Lewis head coach Dana Schwarting said. "It will definitely get her into the national meet. She continues to run some impressive times. She set the tone for our women's team for tomorrow."

The Flyers continue action on Saturday at the meet hosted by the Alabama Crimson Tide.
