HOW IT HAPPENED IN INDIANAPOLIS
The Flyers opened the GLVC Indoor Championships in dominant fashion Friday inside the Athletics & Recreation Center in Indianapolis, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. 

After the opening day of competition, the Flyers sit in first place with 57 team points, with host UIndy trailing in second at 42 points.
Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) led the way in the field, capturing the GLVC title in the women's long jump with a leap of 6.10 meters, finishing just shy of the meet record. 

On the track, the women's distance crew put together a commanding performance in the 5,000 meters. Madilyn Calloway (Rochester, Ind./Rochester Community) earned the conference crown with a winning time of 17:27.95. Josephine Bober (Lockport, IL/Lockport Twp HS) added a third-place finish (17:36.57), while Hudson Szymonik (Hampshire, Ill./Jacobs) placed fifth (17:45.41) and Louisa Wilson (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) finished seventh (18:29.01), giving the Flyers four scorers and a major boost in the team standings.

The momentum continued in the distance medley relay, where Megan Garrett (), Rebecca Cravedi (Piacenza, Italy/), Janellisa Oceguera (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West), and Mary Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) combined to win the GLVC title in 12:11.14. 

The Flyers also had a strong showing in sprint and hurdle prelims, advancing multiple athletes to Saturday's finals and positioning themselves well to defend their lead.
