DePaul HTML Box ScoreROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis men's tennis split a pair of matches on Saturday (March 21). The Flyers picked up a 5-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference win at Saint Joseph's in the morning. In the evening Lewis lost 7-0 at DePaul.
The Flyers opened play at Saint Joseph's with two wins in doubles play. Senior
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and senior
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) used an 8-4 score to top Adam Meeker and Danny James. Lewis lost at No. 2 doubles, but won at No. 3 when freshman
Alan Fijalkowski (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and sophomore
Chris Jastrab (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Kaiserslautern) defeated Lucas Jessen and Samir Shammas 8-5.
Levandi topped Reind Imel at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. Aunapuu defeated Klump 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. The Pumas picked up their second point with a win at No. 2 singles. However the Flyers clinched the match when Fijalkowski toppled Jessen 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, leaving the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches unfinished.
The Blue Demons swept Lewis in the nightcap with the closest contest being at No. 3 singles where Lewis sophomore
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) won the opening set over DePaul's Kyle Johnson 7-6 before falling 6-1 and 6-3 in the next two sets.
Saint Joseph's falls to 6-2 (0-1 GLVC). DePaul is 10-6. Lewis is now 7-4 (1-0 GLVC). Lewis returns to the court on March 24 vs. Missouri-St. Louis.
