Lisle, Ill. - Lewis University senior
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) earned a pair of top-two performances and added a NCAA Provisional mark to help the men's track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational on Saturday (April 11) afternoon.
Dorenkamper won the 110-meter hurdles with a NCAA Provisional time of 14.47 and placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (53.57).
"We had some pretty big performances from the men's team (on Saturday)," Lewis head men's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "It was nice to have a quality meet this close to home and to be able to compete in front of family and alumni."
Loyola won the 19-team meet with 106 points, followed by Carthage (87), Wheaton (84), St. Francis (Ill.) (83) and Lewis (71).
Lewis junior
Kyle Rohde (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) also added a pair of top two performances with a first-place throw of 51.23m (168'1") in the javelin and a runner-up showing in the long jump with a mark of 6.31m (20'8 1/2").
Flyer junior
Matthew Simmons (Calumet City, Ill./Marian Catholic) took home the triple jump title with a leap of 13.52m (44'4 1/2").
Lewis is back in action on Thursday (April 16), as they travel to Lawrence, Kansas to participate in the Kansas Relays.
