Lawrence, Kan. - Lewis University freshman
Zoe Mead (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) won the 800-meter run with a NCAA Provisional and team, season-best time of 2:13.78 to lead the No. 13 Flyer women's track and field team at the prestigious Kansas Relays, hosted by Kansas University, at Rock Chalk Park on Thursday (April 16) evening.
Flyer senior
Megan Marchildon (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln Consolidated) also set a NCAA Provisional in the heptathlon with fourth-place finish of 4,855 points.
Lewis senior
Monica Hahn (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) set a new school-record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as she placed fourth overall with a time of 11:19.36. She broke her own previous school-standard of 11:26.69, set in 2014.
Lewis sophomore
Amanda Farrough (South Bend, Ind./Clay) finished second in the 1,500-meter run (4:32.98).
"Megan (Marchildon) started the day off with a great finish in the heptathlon and it kind of jump started the night," Lewis head women's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "Zoe (Mead) winning the 800 gave everyone the confidence that we could compete here.
"I'm very pleased with Day One and can't wait to get to tomorrow."
Lewis returns to Rock Chalk Park on Friday (April 17) for third-day action of the Kansas Relays.
