Plainfield, Ill. - The Lewis University men's tennis team bounced back from two straight losses with a dominant 8-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Illinois Springfield on Friday (April 3) afternoon at the Five Star Tennis Center.
With the win, Lewis improves to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in GLVC action, while the visiting Prairie Stars drop to 7-10 on the campaign and 0-3 in conference play.

At No. 1 doubles, Lewis sophomore
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) and senior
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) paired up for an 8-5 victory over UIS' Cole Buehnerkemper and Hayden Esker. At No. 1 singles, Levandi added a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash over Gerard Carpinell, while Srdanovic blanked Esker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

The Lewis duo of freshman
Alan Fijalkowski (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and senior
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) downed Carpinell and Santiago Pedraza, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. Aunapuu collected a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Buehnerkemper at No. 2 singles, while Fijalkowski defeated Pradeep Ravisankar 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

Wrapping up the Flyer victory was sophomore
Chris Jastrab (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Kaiserslautern) and freshman
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) with an 8-0 whitewash of Grant Fitzsimmons and Aksell Dogan at No. 3 doubles. Norasith also earned the 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pedraza at No. 4 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (April 4), as the Flyers welcome Bellarmine to the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex for a 10 AM first serve.
