Allendale, Mich. - Despite battling an injury, Lewis University senior
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) narrowly missed breaking his own school-record in the 400-meter hurdles and advanced to Saturday's finals at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State, on Thursday (May 21) night.
Dorenkamper crossed the finish line in 52.52, just missing the school-standard of 52.51 that he set at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on May 8th. Saturday's finals are slated to start at 4:20 PM ET.
"What a gutsy performance by Kevin," Lewis head men's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "Heading into today, we didn't know what to expect from him, but I can't believe he ran as fast as he did."
Lewis sophomore
Asher Scott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) was unable to advance out of the 1,500-meter run preliminaries, as he finished 15th with a time of 3:55.95.
