Naperville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's track and field team notched three school-records and four NCAA Provisional marks at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Friday (May 8) evening.
Flyer senior
Kevin Dorenkamper (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) picked up two of those school-records and NCAA Provisional marks in both the 110-meter hurdles (3rd, 14.52) and 400-meter hurdles (2nd, 52.51). The previous 400-meter hurdles standard of 53.09 was set by J'ean Middleton in 2004, while Dave Dobersztyn held the 110-meter hurdles record of 14.54.
Lewis sophomore
Asher Scott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) set a school-record and a NCAA Provisional mark in the 1,500-meter run with a second-place finish of 3:46.39. The previous record of 3:46.8 was set in 1996. His classmate
Michael Leet (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) collected another NCAA Provisional mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a second-place and personal-best time of 9:03.32.
"It was a great day for the men," Lewis head men's track and field coach
Dana Schwarting said. "Despite the rain, we had some amazing performances and had some athletes run some times that will make the national meet."
