PDF BoxROMEOVILLE, Ill. – No. 13 Lewis men's volleyball out-hit Charleston (W.V.) .443 to .122 in a 25-16, 25-16, 25-17 non-conference victory at Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Jan. 22) evening.
"There are some little things we've been doing all week trying to get better at," Lewis head coach
Dan Friend said. "I thought the guys executed that."
Three Flyers led Lewis in kills by recording six kills each. Freshman
Mitch Perinar (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) and junior
Trevor Weiskircher (Loves Park, Ill./Boylan Catholic) each reached six kills with no errors. Freshman
Julian Moses (Atlanta, Ga./Atlanta International School) had six kills and only one error. The trio combined for four of Lewis' five aces.
Senior
Scott Fifer (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) had 17 assists and freshman
Matt Yoshimoto (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) recorded 11 assists.
The home standing Flyers held a 28-15 edge in digs, with Fifer leading Lewis with five.
The match featured only three lead changes. Lewis didn't record a hitting error in the first frame as they won by nine points.
Charleston falls to 1-5. Lewis improves to 4-3. The Flyers host Erskine on Saturday (Jan. 22) at 7 p.m.
