HONOLULU, Hawaii - Three Flyers finished with double-digit kills as No. 8 Lewis men's volleyball defeated King 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 on Friday (Jan. 8) evening at the 22nd Annual Outrigger Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.Senior
Patrick Lilly (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) guided Lewis with a career-high 12 kills. Junior
Trevor Weiskircher (Loves Park, Ill./Boylan Catholic) hit .444 with 11 kills while adding two aces. Junior
Giovanni Llinas Rosa (Gurabo, Puerto Rico/Clegio Adianez) pitched in 10 kills. All three each recorded six digs.
They helped the Flyers out-hit the Tornado .400 to .091. Freshman
Matt Yoshimoto (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) recorded 35 assists in his first collegiate match for Lewis.
The closest set was the second, which was tied at 12 until 10-3 Lewis run gave the Flyers some breathing room.
King falls to 0-2. Lewis improves to 3-0. The Flyers take a day off before returning to the court on Sunday to play tournament host Hawaii in a 9 p.m. CT start.
