WESTFIELD, Ind. – A four-run sixth inning helped Lewis baseball to an 8-2 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (March 19) in a non-conference contest. The game is part of the Midwest Region Baseball Crossover Showcase at Grand Park.

Kentucky Wesleyan jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a two-run first inning after the first two men reached and came around to score. They would be the only two runs the Panthers would score.

Lewis cut the deficit in half with an Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) RBI ground out in the third.

The big inning came in the sixth. Lewis loaded the bases with no outs and pushed across four runs with the help of three singles, three walks and an error.

A two-run home run by Kurt Becker (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) in the seventh made the score 7-2 in favor of the Flyers. The Flyers added a single run in the eighth.

Sophomore Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) threw 6.0 innings. He earned the win after allowing two runs with five strikeouts. He is now 3-0. Junior Sam Couch (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) tossed the final three innings to earn his third save of the year. He notched three strikeouts.

Becker had three RBI. Bloom recorded two RBI. Senior Joe Sparacio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) notched three hits.
