Romeoville, Ill. - Truman State University hit six home runs against the Lewis University softball pitching staff as the Bulldogs (13-7, 5-1 GLVC) claimed the 7-2, 12-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader sweep over the Flyers (11-12, 1-5 GLVC) at the Lewis Softball Field on Saturday (March 19) afternoon.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (March 20), as the Flyers welcome Quincy University to Lewis Softball Field for a 12 PM first pitch.

Truman State scored six unanswered runs, behind home runs from catcher Lex Van Nostrand (2-run) and designated player Whitney Richardson (solo), on its way to the 7-2 win in the opening game of the doubleheader. Van Nostrand (1-for-3, 3 RBI) and Richardson (2-for-4, 3 RBI) combined for six of the Bulldog RBI.
Truman State starting pitcher Kelsea Dorsey earned the complete-game victory for the Bulldogs, allowing two runs - one earned - and five hits, while fanning seven batters. Lewis'
Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) took the loss for the Flyers, surrendering six earned runs and eight hits, while striking out five in five innings of work.

Truman State pounded out four home runs, including a decisive grand slam by center fielder Christa Reisinger in the seventh inning, as the Bulldogs claimed the 12-5 win over the Flyers in the nightcap.
Truman third baseman Cate Simon (solo), shortstop Jamie Fowle (2-run) and Richardson (solo) also went deep for the Bulldogs in the win. The Bulldogs also received three RBI from right fielder Michaela Mooney (2-for-3, run).
TSU starting pitcher Lauren Dale picked up the win, scattering five runs - two earned - and eight hits in 4.2 innings, while striking out two. Dorsey collected the save, tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief for the Bulldogs. Lewis starting pitcher
