Lewis' Smallwood Finishes Day One Of NCAA Championships As All-American

Day One Results

Birmingham, Ala. - Lewis University women's track and field kicked off the first day of the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships Thursday (March 9) finishing the day in 18th with two points.

Those two points came from the performance of Phoenix Smallwood (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) who finished seventh in the long jump with a 5.90 meter leap (19' 4 1/4"). Finishing in the top ten of the long jump earned Smallwood the title of All-American.

"Phoenix capped off her indoor career in style." Lewis women's track and field head coach Dana Schwarting said. "She has worked tremendously hard over the past four years and the All-American award is a great reward."

The Championships will continue Friday (March 10), however the Flyers will not compete again until Saturday.
