ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday (Jan. 22) that both Lewis University swimming teams were named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America team for the Fall 2018 semester.
It's the sixth straight year that both teams have been bestowed the honor with the men holding a grade point average of 3.42 and the women held a 3.17 GPA. For the men, Lewis was one of seven teams in the GLVC that earned the honor and the women's team was one of eight. In the conference there were six teams that earned the honor for both men's and women's teams including Lewis.
"We are very proud of the success our swimmers have in the classroom," Lewis men's and women's swimming head coach
Roger Karns said. "Being academically strong is a point of emphasis with both teams and I am pleased with their classroom performance."
The Team Scholar All-American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
In the pool, the men's squad is ranked 25th in the current
TYR/CSCAA DII Top 25 poll. Both teams return to action this Friday hosting Lincoln College at 5 p.m.
