ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The 25th ranked Lewis men's swimming team defeated Lincoln College 131-34 on Friday evening at the Lewis Swimming Pool in Romeoville, Ill. The Flyers won all 12 events in the dual.
Lewis began the evening with a one-two finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The Flyer squad of
Guillaume Bolivard (Martinique, France/Lycee Centre Sud),
Sumner Latta (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh North),
Carter Thoss (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and
Jared Stigant (Edgemead, Cape Town/South African College Schools) won the event in a time of 1:38.36 while the squad of
Jeremy Burbrink (Goshen, Ind./Northridge),
Thomas Kotel (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South), Brandon Buoy and
Jack Tegeder (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) finished with a time of 1:42.68.
Jackson Mugg (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne East) and
Michael Roach (New Market, Maryland/Linganore) finished first and second in the 1,000 freestyle with times of 10:02.52 and 10:18.06 respectively.
Yurii Kharko (Odessa, Ukraine) took the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:43.60 while
Brock Star (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) was second at 1:45.90 and
Rhys Taylor (Nottingham, England/National C of E Academy) came in third at 1:48.66.
Helio Meggito Pereira () finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.92. Bouy and
Jesse Drake (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) finished second and third respectively with times of 2:04.38 and 2:05.63.
Lewis had four of the top five finishers in the 50 freestyle with Stigant picking up the win in 21.71 seconds.
Colin Williams (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) came in second at 22.13 while Kotel and Tegeder finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Drake won the 100 fly with a time of 55.20 seconds.
Kharko won his second event of the evening in the 100 free with a time of 46.32 seconds. Bolivard took the top spot in the 100 backstroke in a time of 53.10 seconds. Mugg also earned his second event win of the evening taking the 500 free touching the wall at 4:47.82.
Pereira took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.65 seconds. The Lewis team consisting of Bolivard, Kharko, Pereira and Star closed out the dual winning the 200 free relay in a time of 1:27.21.
Lewis hosts Davenport (Mich.) and North Central in a triangular meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers will honor their seniors prior to the meet.
