ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's soccer team begins a four-game roadtrip on Friday taking on McKendree at 7:30 p.m. in Lebanon, Ill. The Flyers (7-3-2, 4-3-2 GLVC) then head to Evansville, Ind., on Sunday to take on Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m.
Last Time Out: Lewis dropped its second straight one goal contest in the 2-1 defeat against Bellarmine on Sunday. The Knights scored twice in the span of 10 minutes to take a 2-0 lead.
Domenic Baumann (Bergheim, Germany/Brauweiler) brought the Flyers back to within a goal when he put home a rebound in the 66th minute. Lewis had a couple of chances to level the match late in the game but weren't able to put those shots on frame.
Statistical Rankings: C.J. Couper (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) continues to lead the GLVC in shutouts (7), shutouts per game, goals against average (0.55) and save percentage (.844). He's also sixth in Division II in goals against average and 13th in goalie minutes played and save percentage.
About McKendree: The Bearcats enter Friday's contest atop the GLVC standings with a record of 8-1-2 overall and are 7-0-2 in league play. The 'Cats extended their unbeaten streak to 10 and their winning streak to seven with a 5-0 win at William Jewell on Sunday.
About Southern Indiana: The Screaming Eagles enter Friday's contest against Illinois Springfield with a mark of 3-5-3 and are 3-4-2 in GLVC action. USI is winless in its last three games after a 1-1 double overtime draw at Rockhurst on Sunday.
Series Stuff: Lewis holds a 4-2-1 advantage in the series with McKendree. The Flyers had their winning streak in the series snapped at three with a loss last season. Lewis has won three of the first four meetings between the two sides in Lebanon.
The Flyers are 12-6-2 in the last 20 matchups with Southern Indiana. However, in the last eight meetings the Screaming Eagles are 5-1-2. Last season, USI picked up a 3-0 win at Lewis in the regular season finale.
Up Next: The Flyers head out for their final two road games of the regular season traveling to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst next Friday at 7:30 p.m. followed by a trip to Liberty on Sunday to take on William Jewell at 2:30 p.m.
