ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's soccer team wraps up its four game homestand this weekend hosting Indianapolis on Friday at 5 p.m. and Bellarmine on Sunday at 12 p.m. The Flyers enter this weekend with a record of 5-4-1 overall and are 3-3-1 in the GLVC.
Last Time Out – Lewis snapped a three match winless streak last Friday defeating Truman State 2-0 on second half goals from
Jamie Hansen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and
Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic). The Flyers made it two in a row on Sunday defeating Quincy 2-1. Parnello put Lewis on the board with a goal in the fourth minute and
Christine Szymanski (Orland Park, Ill/Sandburg) added a goal in the 29th minute.
League Leaders – The Flyers rank fifth in the GLVC in points scored with 4.10 per contest and are tied for fifth in goals scored with 14. They're also tied for sixth in goals per game with 1.40. Individually, Parnello leads the GLVC in shots taken with 41, is third in points (13), points per game (1.30) and tied for third in goals (5) and goals per game (0.50).
Mallory Richardson (Bartlett, Ill./Westminister Christian) is tied for the league lead in assists with four and assists per game with 0.50.
About Indianapolis - The Greyhounds enter Friday's contest with a record of 7-1-1 overall and are 5-1-1 in GLVC play. The 'Hounds extended their winning streak to a season-high four matches last weekend defeating Lindenwood 3-1 and UMSL 2-1 in double overtime. Amanda Meyer leads the team in scoring with eight points (three goals, two assists). Sophia Saucerman has played a majority of the minutes in goal posting three shutouts and has a goals against average of 0.81.
About Bellarmine - The Knights (7-3, 4-3 GLVC) begin a four-game road trip at Illinois Springfield on Friday. In their last outing they had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to Lindenwood. Bellarmine has more than doubled their opponents' shots on goal and nearly doubled their total shots this season. Despite plenty of action in and around the box it has produced just 10 goals in 10 games.
Series Stuff – Lewis has won six of the last eight meetings against Indianapolis including last year's 2-1 win at Lewis Stadium. The Flyers snapped a seven-game winless streak against Bellarmine with a 2-1 double overtime in Louisville last season on a pair of goals from Parnello.
