ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's golf team finished ninth at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Monday (April 22) at Panther Creek Country Club.
The Flyers posted a three-round score of 906 (+42) after a final round total of 300 (+12) on Monday. The top four teams after the tournament today (Missouri-St. Louis, 865, Indianapolis, 866, Bellarmine, 875 and Maryville, 884) advance to tomorrow's medal/match play competition.
The Flyers were led by
Trey Tussey (LaSalle, Ill.) who finished in a tie for 15th with a three round score of 221 (72-75-74) to finish at +5 for the tournament.
Braden Bentley (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) and
Jimmy Roach (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) finished in a tie for 32nd with each posting scores of 228. Bentley shot a 77 in the third round while Roach tied with Tussey for the low round of the day for Lewis with a 74.
Cole Elmore (Salina, Kan.) shot a 75 in round three to finish with a score of 229 and was tied for 36th.
Hunter Pipik (New Berlin, Wisc./New Berlin West) posted a score of 77 on Monday to finish with a total score of 240.
Bellarmine's James Inman defeated UIndy's Oliver Mast in a one-hole playoff for medalist honors. Both individuals tied the GLVC Championship record at 7-under 209, matching 2006: David Shearer, NKU and 2009: Justin Hueber, UINDY.
