Lewis Men’s Swimming Picks Up Four Event Wins At Missouri-St. Louis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's swimming team won four races in its dual meet at Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Missouri-St. Louis but fell to the Tritons 114-97 on Saturday (Oct. 24) in St. Louis, Mo.

Lewis picked up its first win in the 200-yard freestyle with Ruben van Leeuwen (Eindhoven, The Netherlands/CIU/Christelyk Lyceum Veenendaal) winning in a time of 1:46.04. He also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.27 for his second event win of the day.

Ari Kissel (Berlin, Germany/) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.73 finishing nearly a second ahead of Conley Savage.

Jackson Mugg (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne East) took the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle winning by half a second over Keven Stahl.

The Flyer 200-yard medley relay team of Mariano Sosa (Olavarria, Argentina/), Jabari Ramsey (Land O' Lakes, Fla./Land O' Lakes), Filip Bjorkholm (Västerås, Sweden/Widenska) and Ethan Fox (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) took second in a time of 1:39.67.

Mugg, Rhys Taylor (Nottingham, England/National C of E Academy) and Isaac Rolfsen (Kalamazoo, Mich./Homeschool) finished second, third and fourth respectively in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Mugg swam a season best time of 9:59.95, Taylor finished at 10:11.52 and Rolfsen touched the wall at 10:19.59.

Kissel and Sosa finished second and third respectively in the 100-yard backstroke. Kissel finished with a time of 53.74 seconds and Sosa touched the wall at 54.11 seconds.

Ramsey and Taylor finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ramsey swam a season best time of 59.83 seconds while Taylor turned in a time of 1:00.58.

Lewis' 200-yard freestyle relay team of van Leeuwen, Kissel, Brock Star (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) and Adrian Wlodarz (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) took second with a time of 1:26.74.

Both the Lewis men and women are in action on Saturday (Oct. 31) hosting GLVC foe Maryville in a dual meet beginning at 1 p.m.
