Former Lewis All-American Sergio Miranda To Compete In Upcoming Olympic Trials

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Former Lewis University All-American Sergio Miranda will compete this weekend at the Federation of Athletics Associatiion Olympic Trials at the Estadio Olimpico in Querètaro, Mexico as he looks to qualify for this year's Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Miranda will compete in the 800 meters for Mexico on Sunday (June 13) morning at 8:30 a.m. (CDT). Miranda is ranked fourth heading into Sunday's event and will be one of 16 individuals competing for a spot on the Mexican Olympic team. The top three finishers in the race will qualify for the Olympics provided they have met the 2020 Olympic Games qualifying standards will qualify for the Olympic team.

He earned First Team All-American honors at Lewis in 2017 after finishing fourth in the 800 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla. Miranda also finished 15th nationally at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. He led the GLVC in the 800 meter for the indoor and outdoor season in 2017.
