ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's and women's swimming teams will host Olivet Nazarene in its season opener on Saturday (Sept. 25) morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewis Swimming Pool inside the JFK Sportscenter.
Fans will be allowed to attend but it'll be at a limited capacity, they are expected to wear facemasks regardless of vaccination status and visitors to campus must fill out a visitor health screening form prior to entering the building on Saturday.
Saturday's dual will also be live streamed on the GLVC Sports Network at glvcsn.com/lewis for anyone who is unable to attend.
The Flyers had two All-Americans from a season ago in fifth year seniors
Ruben van Leeuwen (Eindhoven, The Netherlands/CIU/Christelyk Lyceum Veenendaal) on the men's side and
Stephanie Palczynski (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South High School) on the women's side.
van Leeuwen finished ninth in the 200 Free and was seventh in the B-Final of the 200 Fly at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships this past spring.
Palczynski, a four-time All-American, earned her highest finish at the national meet last spring finishing fourth in the 200 break and broke her own school record in the process. She also earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 200 Free.
The Flyers, under the direction of first year head coach
Evan Sholudko, return 34 swimmers from a season ago with 17 on the men's side and 17 on the women's side.
